Pockets of privacy within a large open plan residence
The Johannesburg based family required a private retreat in the bush which accommodated their needs when visiting on their own, while allowing for expansive entertaining areas and privacy when hosting friends and other guests.
A new build, we worked closely with the architect from sketch planning phase to ensure that the clients’ requirements including proportions of the space were exactly right.
The result was a bush retreat which doesn’t conform to the traditional safari lodge archetype – the interiors are an eclectic mix of modern urban style with splashes of colour while acknowledging the traditional architecture of the area.
Luxurious, and reflecting a careful attention to detail, the lodge features a host of bespoke finishes including a tailor-made kelim rug, a pebble table in supple Jacaranda timber which was specially treated for the dry bush conditions and custom designed wall paper.
